Backstory of Classic City Eats

Josh and Amy Collins embarked on a journey in late 2014 when they relocated from Chattanooga, Tennessee, to open a family-friendly bar and grill in the Athens area. After successfully starting and operating as a licensee of a Chattanooga restaurant chain for five years, they decided in 2020 that it was time to give Athens their own food flair: mixed Southern cuisine of chicken, pork and catfish dishes with all the yummy fixins.

And what a year 2020 was! Our team is so grateful for the support we received throughout the ups and downs and navigating running a restaurant in such a tumultuous time. Josh and Amy made the decision late that year to move from our original location on Baxter Street to the Greensboro Highway area of Watkinsville, Georgia, just a few miles down the road. The new location opened in spring 2021 to much-anticipated fanfare: the Bulldog Nation missed its favorite fried chicken just about as much as football!!
